What you will visit:
Catamaran Sail
Sailing is the ultimate way to witness Cabo's spectacular coastline, natural landmarks and abundant wildlife. The captain will choose your route, but area highlights include the southernmost tip of the peninsula, called Land's End, secluded Lover's Beach, and El Arco, the iconic natural landmark and magnificent rock formation where the waters of the Sea of Cortez meet the Pacific at Land's End.
As you sail the waters, a taped narration by Jean-Michel Cousteau provides commentary on the area's ecology and points of interest. Watch for the wildlife, including pelicans, sea lions, and playful seals.
Glass-Blowing Factory
Glass blowing is a true art form, and guests will watch artisans create dazzling pieces using a centuries-old technique. It is quite mesmerizing to witness, and if you are lucky, a glass hummingbird or flower will be produced right before your eyes. Today, Mexico is well known for affordable, rustic hand-blown drinking glasses, many of them characterized by a cobalt blue band at the rim. The factory employs over 30 artisans and produces as many as 500 one-of-a-kind pieces each day, many made with recycled glass.
San Jose del Cabo
As early as the 1500s, sailors referred to San Jose as a "safe watering place," an important stop for boats that were low on provisions. It was also an area where pirates lay in wait, ready to ambush the Spanish ships that came through the waters loaded with silver and gold. Today, this authentic Mexican town charms with tree-lined boulevards, sidewalk murals painted by schoolchildren, the "Zocalo," or town square, and the spires of the Church of St. Joseph, whose roots can be traced to the San Jose mission, built by Spanish missionaries in 1730.
What you will see along the way:
Cruise past the magnificent, towering natural landmark known as El Arco, or The Arch. Thundering waves and strong ocean currents created The Arch, a natural landmark and iconic symbol of the area. Years ago, it was used by pirates as a hiding place where they could lie in wait to ambush the merchant ships heading for the west coast. Your sail travels to the southernmost tip of the peninsula to see Land's End and skims past secluded Lover's Beach.
Gaze out the motorcoach window onto the Baja California desert terrain. The varied landscape and indigenous vegetation make for picturesque landscapes, and you'll want to keep an eye out for the outstanding Cardon cacti, the giant succulent plants found in this desert that are considered the world largest type of cactus.
Snack:
A complimentary beverage is served on the catamaran. In addition, stop at a cliff-top restaurant for a refreshing complimentary beverage and sweeping views of the bay.
