Australia is home to the oldest living culture on Earth. Every part of Australia is Aboriginal country and every part of that country has a series of stories and experiences that are unique to that place. This small group tour will give you a unique opportunity to enjoy an intimate experience of this culture, visiting indigenous sites and uncovering the interesting legends.
On arrival to Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Keeping Place, one of the oldest indigenous operated Museum and Keeping Places in Australia, be welcomed with a traditional welcome ceremony around a beautiful ceremonial fire pit, followed by a guided tour of the museum and the headland. Learn about local Aboriginal culture and history, landscape, animals and bushwood.
Next, travel to Deloraine, a delightful and historic riverside town, set in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers mountain range. After a delicious country lunch enjoy free time to wander the main street of the town. Visit the Kooparoona Niara Cultural Trail, a permanent exhibition, showcasing Tasmanian Aboriginal culture through art and sculpture. Here you'll meet with a local elder for a smoking ceremony, hear local traditions and stories while you sit around the fire at the yarning circle.
Transfer back to the pier.
