What you will visit:

Iguazu Falls

More than 450,000 gallons of water pass over Iguazu Falls every second, earning this UNESCO World Heritage Site its name, which translates to "Mighty Waters." This unique national park, one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, straddles Brazil and Argentina and showcases a massive series of more than 275 waterfalls in an area where cliffs and islets are scattered in a half moon. To reach Devil's Throat, the highest and largest of the falls, ride an ecological jungle train then traverse a catwalk that crosses the Upper Iguazu River for the ultimate view of the cascades. Extensive walking is involved.

Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant (optional tour)
Designated as one of the World's Seven Modern Wonders, the Itaipu Dam is one of the largest power plants on earth and the world's largest generator of renewable energy. Clocking in at 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers) long and 65 stories high-and 40 times more powerful than Iguassu Falls-the dam's hydroelectric power plant produces roughly 20 percent of Brazil's electricity and is a magnificent feat of engineering and design.

Rio De Janeiro (highlights tour)

Discover the sights and sounds of Brazil's Cidade Maravilhosa - the "Marvelous City" as you travel through downtown Rio with its mix of dazzling high-rises and colonial architecture. Board a cable car for a ride to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and take in the panoramic views and marvel at Corcovado Mountain, Rio's highest peak, the home of the iconic the Christ the Redeemer Statue. Board a train and ride to the top of the mountain, then continue up escalators to the main viewing platform.

What you will see along the way:
Brazilian falls. Walk in close proximity to the bottom of Devil's Throat, the tallest of the falls, dropping more than 260 feet into a swirling cloud of mist. Shaped like a horseshoe, Devil's Throat is the largest water curtain in the whole system and includes 14 waterfalls. On the Macuco Safari Boat Tour, enjoy unobstructed views of the flora and fauna found within the park, then cruise up the river to "The Three Musketeers" falls.

Argentine falls. View the Upper Circuit, with trails set on top of the waterfalls' edge for dramatic vertical views, and the Lower Circuit, which borders the Iguazu River. Ride the Ecological Jungle Train to experience the Cataratas area of the Iguazu National Park.

Photo Opportunities:
In addition to the falls, nature photographers will want to focus on the park's incredible flora and fauna, including palm trees and orchids, colorful birds, and capuchi monkeys.

Before returning to the ship, take in Rio's picture-postcard views from the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain, and the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain.

Meals:
Most meals are included on this excursion at both the hotel restaurant and establishments located within the park. Lunch is included during the highlights tour of Rio.

Special Notes:

Expect heavy traffic congestion and delays as well as long lines at the attractions and steps to climb. Escalators and elevators are available to reach the statue of Christ. No guarantee is offered with regards to visibility or views on any particular day, as weather and atmospheric conditions vary and are beyond the tour operator's control. To fully participate may require walking over primarily even surfaces. There may be a limited number of steps, cobblestones or uneven surfaces, and some standing for extended periods of time. There 220 steps to climb after disembarking the cogwheel tram at Corcovado for those who do not wish to use the elevators or escalators to reach the Christ the Redeemer statue.

The tour is non-refundable unless cancelled 90 days prior to the cruise. Waitlisted requests also become non-refundable if confirmed either onboard or within the 90-day period prior to the cruise. Any cancelled requests inside of 90 days prior to the voyage (i.e. bookings cancelled on the Cruise Personalizer) will be assessed cancellation fees on your shipboard account. Waitlisted requests will be cleared in the order received and are subject to the same cancellation policy; waitlisted requests must be cancelled 90 days prior to the cruise to avoid cancellation costs in the case we are able to accommodate you on the tour.

Final hotel/flight manifests must be provided well in advance of the tour, therefore we recommend passengers book overland options no later than 60 days prior to your voyage.

Not included are optional, personal expenses, extras at the hotels, drinks during meals if not otherwise mentioned, non-mandatory tips.

Be advised that there is extensive walking over uneven ground at Iguazu Falls; passengers should wear comfortable walking shoes. Be prepared for hot and humid conditions; not all venues are air-conditioned. Mist from the falls will settle on your clothing and you will get wet; bring a waterproof raincoat and extra clothing. When visiting the Falls, you will cross the Brazil/Argentina border; long lines can be expected.

A minimum number of participants are required to operate this tour. Tour itinerary may be changed based on flight schedule availability. All sightseeing is subject to flight arrival times.
