Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

The tango was developed in Argentina and Uruguay in the mid-19th century and spread to the world soon after. The intricate "quick-quick-slow" footwork of the tango makes it simple to recognize-- but not so easy to perform. The first worldwide tango craze spread from South America to Europe and the U.S. in the early 20th century. Tango music, often accompanied by the bandoneón, a distinctive accordion-like instrument, along with double bass, piano and violin, is known for its powerful rhythms that may just have you slinking out onto the dance floor!

Your evening of grace and glamour begins with a 30-minute scenic drive to one of Buenos Aires' most iconic traditional Tango Houses. Amidst these surroundings, a sumptuous meal is served. Feast on traditional fare and savor the robust bouquet of Argentinean wines.
The lights dim, the musicians take their place, the music swells with its melancholic sound and a troupe of talented professional dancers showcase a variety of tango styles. You'll be impressed by their timing, skill and stamina as they passionately perform what is often referred to as "a vertical expression of a horizontal desire." The show is a journey through the ages of Argentina's cultural arts and entertainment through artful choreography and costumes. The tango combines elements from many different cultures and greatly influenced the world music and dance scene. So important is the tango to Argentina that it has been designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind.

At the conclusion of the evening, practice your fancy footwork back to the motorcoach and return to the ship still aglow from the tango's spell.
