Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

This enjoyable, half-day tour combines the best of Belgium's cultural heritage with a chance to sample some of its wonderful, internationally revered, hand-made chocolates. First, enjoy a scenic motorcoach ride from Zeebrugge port to the pretty Flemish city of Ghent, which, during the Middle Ages, became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe. Today, it is a busy city that boasts a lively port and popular university.

Accompanied by your friendly guide, your tour begins in the old city center where you will enjoy a superb photo opportunity from the top of St. Michael's Bridge. The sweeping views here range from the Old Port, with its gabled Guild Houses, to the thousand-year-old Castle of the Counts. You will also be able to view the 15th-century Town Hall, the famous 'three towers' of Saint Nicholas Church, and the Belfry tower (exterior views only).

At the midway part of the tour, you will stop to enjoy an informative and fun chocolate demonstration in which you will learn all about the history of chocolate and how it is molded into different shapes, but more importantly, you'll have the opportunity to sample some of these sweet treats. Your walking tour resumes with a stroll through the streets to St. Bavo's Cathedral. This massive cathedral took three centuries to complete.

Afterward, you will have free time to explore the city and shop for souvenirs, including fine Belgian chocolates and Flemish lace, before heading back to the ship at Zeebrugge.
