Jean-Paul Lescorce was 3 years old when German soldiers marched into Soulac in June 1940 as part of the occupation of France. Anticipating a landing by the Allies from the sea, Hitler proposed impassable defenses along the Atlantic seaboard, from southwest France up to Norway. Between 1941 and 1944, up to 290,000 men, including Jean-Paul's father, were forced to build more than 12,000 bunkers. Over the last several years, Lescorce has dedicated his life to restoring these bunkers as a testament to this chilling time in France's history. Hear first-hand his emotional wartime tales in this moving excursion.
