Combine natural beauty and architectural splendor in the Médoc Chateaux Country with captivating city scenes in monumental Bordeaux, one of the most historically significant cities in France.

Meet your friendly, English-speaking guide at the pier and board your spacious motorcoach and depart the port city of Le Verdon. The famed "Route des Châteaux" is your passport to mile after mile of stunning scenery with seemingly endless vineyards, some dating back to the 1800's.

You'll enter Bordeaux, a pleasing city of verdant parks, magnificent churches, sparkling waters, and graceful bridges. The dazzling display of 18th century neo-classical architecture holds such historic significance; thus, a reason for the city to be named a UNESCO World Heritage SiteDuring your guided walking tour, you will get the chance to see the "Esplanade des Quinconces", one of Europe's largest squares (12 hectares) with a column commemorating French Revolution and the "Place de la Bourse", the former royal square dedicated to Louis XV (1729). Your guided tour will end at the "Grand Theatre", the Bordeaux Opera which was built by Victor Louis in 1773, one of the most beautiful in Europe and a pure work of art from the 18th century.
From there will start your free time for independent exploration and lunch on your own. Shoppers will want to explore the charming Rue Saint-Catherine, a pedestrian-only street lined with sophisticated shops brimming with local wares. Once you've worked up a thirst or an appetite for lunch on your own, you can choose from the sidewalk cafes and bistros offering delicious refreshments: the perfect place to relax and watch the people go by as you sip a lustrous, full-bodied Bordeaux wine.

For tours that offer more in-depth exploration with actual visits to one or more sites, see the other options in this port.
