No visitor to Le Verdon should miss the vineyards that have made Bordeaux wines famous the world over; not to mention, the legendary chateau and the monumental city of Bordeaux. This comprehensive full-day tour takes you to the region's most notable sights and includes lunch plus shopping.

Meet your friendly, English-speaking guide at the pier and board your comfy motorcoach for a thoughtful tour connecting one memorable experience to another. Wine and food lovers and, of course camera buffs, will be delightfully engaged by the savory tastes and spirit-lifting scenery of this exceptional part of the world. The famed 'Route des Chateaux'[ is blessed with row after row of vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see. Road signs tick off the region's most legendary names: Margaux, Latour, Lafite, Mouton Rothschild and more. And stately chateaux peer out from age-old vines and leafy allées or walkways. Arriving at one of the Médoc Peninsula's fairy-tale chateaux, you'll embark for a stimulating immersion in everything wine! Learn about the grapes that are grown in this region and sample the vintner's art from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and to Cabernet Franc. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase a favorite vintage as a special memento of your trip.

Continuing your drive, you'll enter Bordeaux, a pleasing city of verdant parks, magnificent churches, sparkling waters, and graceful bridges. The dazzling display of 18th century neo-classical architecture holds such historic significance; thus, a reason the city has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 33-acre Place des Quinconces is the largest city square in Western Europe. Crowned by the inspiring Girondins Column and planted with trees laid out in a geometric pattern much like a '5' on a regular die, it is the hub of city life. It was erected in memory of the Girondin officials who fell victim to the Reign of terror following the French Revolution. Take in the vibrant street scenes on your way to lunch in a local restaurant. Relax amidst stunning architecture in a treasured bistro like the 1890's Dubern, hailed as 'more than a restaurant…an institution!' After a delightful lunch, enjoy time on your own to browse the shops along the pedestrian only Rue Sainte-Catherine.

Re-boarding your motorcoach, on your way back to your ship in Le Verdon, you'll have time to reflect on the beauty and bounty of the Bordeaux wine region with its medieval hamlets and magnificent estates.
