What you visit:
Norheimsund
Nestled on the northern shore of the Hardangerfjord, Norheimsund is in close proximity to the Steinsdalsfossen, one of Norway's most visited waterfalls. Its pretty little waterfront is perfect for a stroll.

The Hardangerfjord Region
A fjord is a long, narrow inlet from the sea with steep sides or cliffs, created by glacial erosion during the Ice Age. The Hardangerfjord - with its spellbinding mountainous scenery, enveloping valleys, and bucolic villages - is 179 kilometers long and the third longest fjord in the world. Its greatest depth is 900 meters. Today 40% of all Norwegian fruit is grown in the Hardangerfjord region, including apples, sweet cherries, pears and plums.

What you see along the way:
Hardangerfjord's scenery is spectacular, surrounded by high mountains, and the peaks facing the fjords have magnificent steep faces. Known as the orchard of Norway, the area blossoms with cherry, apple and plum fruit trees.
The drive through Bergen highlights the second largest city in Norway and the unofficial capital of the western region. See the old medieval city, including the 13th-century King Hakon's Hall, the 16th-century Rosenkrantz Tower, and Bryggen, the historic wharf area studded with colorful wooden structures, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall
Magnificent Steinsdalsfossen thunders 164 feet, crashing onto the boulders below. The fall was formed in 1699 when the river changed course. This natural wonder is one of the most visited waterfalls in Norway and allows visitors to follow a path behind the plunge to get up-close views of the rushing waters from this unique perspective.
