Discover what impact the Waitangi Treaty and the English missions made on Maori history and culture with a tour of some of its most significant landmarks. Your excursion begins with a scenic drive to Kerikeri, the largest town in Northland, where you'll visit the oldest wooden building, Kemp House. Once inside, you'll see period furniture and personal items owned by missionary families who lived here. The nearby Stone Store holds authentic reproductions of goods from the 1820's to1860's. After refreshments at a local venue, you'll rejoin the coach and continue on to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Here, you'll walk in the footsteps of Maori chiefs, representatives of the British Crown and British missionaries with a tour of New Zealand's most sacred site. Visit the Waitangi Treaty House, see the impressive war canoe and visit the gift shop for locally made jewellery, ceramics and New Zealand-themed souvenirs.
