Bay of Islands Cycling Tour
This half-day cycling excursion is perfect for the whole family. A gentle gradient and smooth surface, plus plenty of rest stops, make it an easy ride for cyclists of all ages and fitness levels. The Kaikohe-Okaihau section of the trail takes you on a gentle tour of rural Northland, over good terrain and with no steep gradients. Some of the sights include Kaikohe, noted as the site of early Maori-European contact; Ngawha Springs, which sits in the center of a geothermally active area; Lake Omapere, the Far North's largest natural lake; Okaihau, the hub of early agricultural settlement; and a 100-year-old rail tunnel.

Plenty of photo stops allow you to spend time capturing the diverse and stunning scenery, magnificent views, native bush, unused train corridors and tunnels.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
The trail passes through the heartland of the Far North giving you extensive views from the Hokianga in the west to Lake Omapere and farmland to the east.
