WHAT YOU VISIT
- Sunbury Plantation House
Painstakingly restored to its former glory, Sunbury Plantation House offers an elegant look at life among the gentry in the 18th century. Step 350 years back in time as you stroll through the beautiful rooms filled with antiques, china, silver, and four-poster beds. Roam the extensively landscaped grounds for more fine authentic examples of life during the rise of the island's sugar barons. Later, enjoy a taste of the island with a lesson in making Bajan rum punch and cod fish cakes.
- Tropical Garden
Meander along the tranquil paths past a waterfall, a coral grotto, rock gardens, into cool, shady gullies and through hot houses overflowing with 5,000 exotic orchids.
- Gun Hill Signal Station
Built in 1818, this military outpost with magnificent views of the island once served as a lookout for approaching ships. Using semaphore flags and lanterns, soldiers based here could communicate with other signal stations on the island to warn of possible invasions. Beautifully restored and landscaped by the Barbados National Trust, the station now houses a fascinating collection of military memorabilia.

Have your close-up lens ready for the breathtaking array of blooms at Tropical Garden. From soft, pale pinks to deep rose and magenta to yellow, green and black luster, orchids come in hundreds of shapes and many different sizes. Capture some of the island's best views from the tower of Gun Hill Signal Station.
