Paddle your way through the shimmering waters surrounding Mount Desert Island, considered the premier sea kayaking destination on the East Coast on this 2.5-hour adventure. You'll be escorted by New England's top outfitter, and with just a little instruction, you'll find kayaking easy to learn. Participants should be in good physical condition with good upper-body strength. On your stable, tandem kayak (two people to a kayak), fluid strokes will propel you through Frenchman Bay as a guide offers commentary on the marine environment, geology, history and local lore of coastal Maine. You'll glide past Porcupine Islands, many owned by Acadia National Park and uninhabited, for a chance to glimpse such varied wildlife as harbor seals, porpoises, cormorants and bald eagles. Maneuver on to historic Bar Harbor's working waterfront and take in the hustle and bustle from a unique perspective. Return to port.
