What you will visit:
Maine Cooking Demonstration
Volunteer to help the chef or just enjoy the learning experience. You're invited to an engaging cooking demonstration that introduces some of Maine's most iconic recipes. Learn the fascinating history and secrets of real Maine cooking with Sharon Joyce, a Cordon Bleu trained chef and author. On the menu is Maine chowder (usually fish) and popovers, a special bread that has a historical story and has been served for generations in Bar Harbor. They look complicated but are easy to make if you know the secret. Take the recipes home with you to impress your friends and family.

Meet the Chef
Multi-talented Sharon Joyce is a trainer, educator, chef and author. Sharon studied advanced French cooking and French pastry at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris before opening a catering business and cooking school in Chicago and the Virgin Islands. She has taught cooking classes around the globe but settled in Bar Harbor over 30 years ago, drawn to the picturesque area for its abundance of local foods and culinary heritage.

What you will see along the way:
Enjoy a quick 5-10 minute walk from the pier to the cooking school, taking in the sights and sounds of Bar Harbor along the way.

At the end of the cooking demonstration, you will sample a taste of the chowder and a delicious hot popover. The type of chowder is dependent on the catch of the day and is usually fish. Take home the recipes to share with friends and family.

Special Notes:

There is a 5-10 minute walk from the pier to reach the cooking school.
