What you will visit:

Acadia National Park/Park Loop Road
First established in 1916, Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island is the oldest national park east of the Mississippi. A 47,000-acre Atlantic coastline recreation area, it is best showcased by Park Loop Road, a 27-mile stretch designated as one of America's most scenic byways. It ribbons past such highlights as Otter Cliff, the summit of Cadillac Mountain, with its 360-degree view of the coast, historic Jordan Pond House, and Thunder Hole, where, if the tides are favorable, you will see the ocean spray shooting high into the air. The motorcoach makes three stops-the Hulls Cove Visitors Center, Jordan Pond and Sand Beach-for those who wish to disembark and explore independently.
What you will see along the way:
The breathtaking beauty of Acadia National Park is on full display as you travel the famous 27-mile Park Loop Road. Enter at Hulls Cove and travel through this ruggedly beautiful park, passing 407-foot-high Kebo Mountain and crossing Beaver Dam Pond. Take in views of the coastline and Frenchman Bay, Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. Turn south to see the grand, 100-foot-high Otter Cliff and tranquil Jordan Pond. Gaze upon the North and South Bubbles, known as 'the twins.' North Bubble swells 872 feet from its base while South Bubble rises to 766 feet. This family-friendly day of natural enjoyment in a pristine environment offers kids the opportunity to learn some biology, geology and history along the trails.

Photo Opportunity:
Known as 'the twins', North Bubble swells 872 feet from its base while South Bubble rises to 766 feet. Those seeking some exercise can hike the 60-minute climb to see Bubble Rock, a photo-op boulder that sits precariously at the edge of a cliff on South Bubble.

Snack:
If you choose to stop at Jordan Pond, the Jordan Pond House Restaurant is the perfect spot to pause for refreshment in Acadia National Park. A local tradition is to savor the views over tea and popovers served on the lawn. Bring a snack and bottled water with you if you plan to hike and commune with nature on your own.
