Board your motorcoach at the pier for a scenic drive to the Elephant Kraal. You'll travel through a tropical landscape of tapioca fields and coconut palms and small rural villages en route to this exotic attraction.
Elephants have played an integral role in Thai history and culture for centuries and even today they are an enduring symbol of Thailand. Elephants have been used to clear forests and to haul timber and in the construction of temples. The ancient kings of Siam rode elephants into battle and the animals, especially the white elephants, were seen as symbols of status and power.
A visit to The Elephant Kraal is a truly fascinating experience. One of the world's oldest Elephant Kraal, it dates back to the 1500s, a time when elephants were trained to be part of the strong Thai army. Now the area is conservation center, which is also a non-profit organization, housing over ninety elephant families, including some adorable calves.
Nowhere else in the world can you see such a gathering of wild elephant herds. Here, you will have an opportunity to experience an up-close encounter with the magnificent beasts. All of the elephants featured are well trained, well cared for and healthy. You will learn about their lives and the upkeep required from the mahout, the person who trains the animals. Witness techniques used in a wild elephant "roundup," attend a variety of shows and presentations, and learn a great deal about elephants while being entertained.
For a truly memorable experience, you can have your photo taken as you sit on an elephant's back. What a wonderful souvenir of your trip!
At the end of your day, enjoy a brief shopping stop at a local reputable shop in Pattaya before a scenic drive that returns you to port.
