Take in the magnificent views of São Miguel on this active, half-day tour that begins at your pier in Ponta Delgada. Board your motorcoach, and, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, journey through the lush countryside. Your guide regales you with information about the island's sights, history, and culture as you travel past small, picturesque villages and farmhouses built of undecorated lava.

Visit the rim of a volcanic crater for a panoramic photo stop to experience the breathtaking beauty of Crater Lakes! Separated by an isthmus of lava, these two lakes (one with green water and the other a brilliant blue) inhabit an extinct volcano's caldera. Adding to their mysterious beauty is the belief that the caldera was once the location for the legendary Sete Cidadas (Seven Cities), utopian cities supposedly settled in the early eighth century.

For a different view of these awe-inspiring lakes, you'll enjoy a photo stop along the shoreline of the modern-day Sete Cidades, a small village that is located in the southwest portion of the crater.

As you make your way back down from the 2,000-foot crater that is home to these gorgeous twin lakes, you will stop at Santiago Lake, another of the sparkling, azure bodies of water in this volcanic landscape.

Upon your return to Ponta Delgada, visit one of the port city's 4-star hotels to indulge in a fantastic wine-tasting experience. Sit back, relax and admire the view of the glistening harbor from the comfort of a lovely veranda as you partake in some of the island's finest wine and cheese. It's a perfect way to cap off your island adventure before returning to your ship!
