What you will visit:
Kiwi Canyoning Adventure
Immerse yourself in the mythical world of caves, pools, volcanic cliffs, jumps, slides, and abundant flora and fauna, and travel by abseiling (rappelling), climbing, scrambling, jumping and swimming on a canyoning adventure in the spectacular Waitakere Ranges. You'll move in and out of mysterious, sculptured gorges as well as see the historic Kauri Logging Dam and the famous black-sand Piha surfing beach. Descend further and continue through tunnels, over boulders and under logs, and test your courage by jumping into plunge pools and abseiling right into a waterfall.

Notes:
Please bring a spare pair of shoes that can get wet. A wetsuit, harness and helmet will be provided.

What you will see along the way:
The Waitakere Ranges separate Auckland from its rugged west coast and serve as gateway to the lush rainforest and volcanic areas explored in depth on this canyoning excursion. You'll also experience the wild, west coast beaches of Auckland and the glimmering black sand of Piha Beach, set against dramatic surf and rugged natural beauty. Surrounded by massive and jagged rock formations, the believed remains of a giant volcanic crater, Piha Beach is a popular surfing spot because the rocks create naturally sheltered surf breaks.

Lunch:
Refresh during your day with a sack lunch.

Special Notes:

High level of fitness is required.
Bring a towel and swimsuit.
Bring spare shoes to wear in the canyon (they will get wet), trainers are suitable.
There is a 30 minute uphill walk to get to the canyon, followed by 90 minutes to descend through the canyon and over a slippery stream bed.
