What you will visit:

Muriwai Beach / Gannet Colony
Muriwai Beach is nestled on the rugged west coast. On the clifftops overlooking the beach, you'll take a short walk through the native plants to the lookout point to see the gannet colony here. This is one of only two mainland gannet colonies in the world. Depending upon the season, you may be able to view the birds' nesting and feeding routines and their spectacular diving technique as they hunt for fish.

Haumoana Farm
A 200-acre holding situated on the South Kaipara Peninsula, Haumoana Farm has 300 Romney sheep for prime lamb and wool production, 200 cattle, and a small fallow deer herd. Your hosts, Greg and Barbara Ross, will warmly welcome you. Guests can watch the mustering of sheep by trained sheepdogs, a skilled shearing demonstration that illustrates just how quickly a sheep can be shorn of its wool, and other typical farm activities.

What you will see along the way:
Begin the day with a picturesque motorcoach drive that travels to Muriwai Beach, nestled on the rugged west coast, by way of the wine-growing areas of Kumeu and Huapai. On your return to Auckland, your motorcoach wends through the farming areas of Waitoki and Dairy Flat.

Snack:
At Haumoana Farm, you'll be invited into the house to refresh with morning tea.

Special Notes:

Gannet Colony season is from August to March each year
