Disembarkation day offers a wonderful opportunity to discover Athens on a guided driving and walking tour. Climb the steep steps through the Propylaea, the monumental gateway to the Acropolis, and visit the spectacular ruins of ancient Greek civilization. See the Pantheon, an immense structure of incredible architectural sophistication; the sacred site of Erectheum; and the graceful Porch of the Caryatids. Return to the motorcoach and make a brief stop at the Olympic Stadium for a photo opportunity en route to the National Archeological Museum of Athens. Here you'll find one of the richest collections of Greek antiquities in the world, including such archeological finds as the Mask of Agamemnon and the Statue of Posideon. A buffet lunch including wine and traditional Greek pastries refreshes you for an afternoon of independent sightseeing in The Plaka, a lively shopping district with cobblestone lanes, colorful stores, tempting cafes and local tavernas.
