There is virtually nothing more important to Greeks than a good night's "glenti," an evening filled with lots of wine, great food and, of course, singing and dancing. This 4.5-hour evening tour rounds out your day of sightseeing and gives you the opportunity to "Go Greek" for a fun-filled evening of food and dance.

Your evening adventure begins at port, where you'll board a comfortable motorcoach and embark on a drive through Piraeus to Athens seeing the city highlights along the way.

Your destination is in the northern suburbs of Athens to a local venue with sweeping views from the hilltop of the whole of the ancient city. You'll be greeted by your host and given time to take some photographs before beginning the evening's program and enjoying a repast that is a culmination of thousands of years of gastronomic expression. Every Greek meal is inviting and delicious and takes you back through the country's history. The Mediterranean cuisine, which favors the use of fresh olive oil, meats, vegetables and grains, is broadly experienced in mezes – small dishes served with wine or orzo.

Begin the evening with displays of traditional culinary techniques and demonstrations of how some classic dishes are prepared. You'll sample the fruits of those labors at dinner.

Watch how kebabs and souvlaki are cooked the traditional way and learn about production of olive oil and how wheat is milled into flour for baking pita bread. You'll also be given a demonstration on how to make such famous dishes as tzatziki, a yogurt dip that is light and flavorful; Greek salad bursting with olives, cucumbers and tomatoes; and moussaka, considered the ambassador of Greek food. And no Greek dinner is complete without wine or a glass of ouzo, the licorice-infused national drink of Greece.

You'll no doubt have worked up an appetite, but before your food reaches the table, pause to learn a few dance steps à la Zorba the Greek. Then, it's time to tuck into the feast – charcoal grilled souvlaki , typical meze dishes, cheese pie, dolmades, Greek salad and moussaka, all washed down with glasses of wine, mineral water and, of course, ouzo! Raise a glass with a stin uyeia sou – to your health!

Then, get ready for the show! A band playing folk music will put everyone in the mood as dancers in traditional costumes perform regional classics. After the performance, it's time to get into the act for a dancing lesson, Zorba-style! Greek dancing has its origins in ancient religious rituals, but today there is a dance to celebrate almost every occasion. The Zorba dance, memorialized by Anthony Quinn in the film Zorba the Greek, starts out slowly and builds to a fast ending in a shoulder-to-shoulder group dance keeping time with the energetic music. You might even get to smash a plate or two! Opa!

At the completion of the night, dance out into the lovely night air, humming a tune as you reboard the motorcoach for a pleasant ride back to the ship, passing the Acropolis, which lit up at night is a dazzling sight to behold.
