Kayaking on the John Day River Marsh
Quiet and calm, the John Day Marsh part of one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the continental US and the longest undammed tributary of the Columbia. Perfect for first-timers as young as eight, as well as veteran kayakers, this fun-filled adventure begins when you meet your experienced guide who will outfit you with life vests and towels. Paddlers will go up the scenic John Day River Marsh, past woods and pastoral fields, residential boat docks, under the U.S. 30 bridge, an eclectic collection of houseboats.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Nature lovers, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts will relish each sensory experience. Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera for breathtaking photos of bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, belted kingfishers, pelicans, and many other native birds and wildlife.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Heading up this lazy wetland are wildflowers and dense thickets of willow, twinberry, and nootka rose with wild spring chinook salmon, summer steelhead, smallmouth bass and channel catfish weaving their way through the waters.
