What you will visit:

Fernhill Glass Studio
Melting and turning, heating and cooling, the art of blowing glass takes patience, artistry and attention to detail. Meet a true artisan and learn about this ancient craft. Located in the historic Fort George area, Fernhill Glass Studio is owned by artist Claude Kurtz, who has been blowing glass since 1989. Drawing inspiration from the colors of the ocean, Kurtz's work plays on the subtle shift of light that dances on the water, bringing its sensibility to his glasswork. Here, visitors have the opportunity to learn about glassmaking and assist in the craft. Choose just the right colors and help to create your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Claude will complete it for you in the kiln, and it will be shipped to the address you provide (price includes shipping anywhere in the U.S.)

What you will see along the way:

Astoria
Nestled between the Columbia River and Youngs Bay, Astoria is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies. Today a city of 10,000 people on the Columbia River, it was established as a fur trading post in 1811. A stroll through its historic core showcases a rich heritage of charm and natural beauty. Take in the picturesque Victorian- and Queen Anne-style homes and churches and the "Doughboy" monument dedicated to the soldiers from Astoria who gave their lives during World War I. Explore museums, the revitalized waterfront area and film locations used in such popular movies as The Goonies, Come See the Paradise and Short Circuit, which were filmed here.

Special Notes:
