Discover under your own power the beauty and history of Astoria's waterfront and the Columbia River on a guided, 2.5-hour bike ride that travels paved and wooden pathways. After a short orientation, don a helmet and set off en masse on your exhilarating adventure. You'll pedal at a moderate pace following your guide, stopping to take photographs at key sites and to listen to engaging stories of the waterfront's development. Hear tales of the time when Astoria was known as the "Salmon Canning Capital of the World" and the "Wickedest Place on Earth" during its heyday as a busy seaport in the late 1800s. Pause at the local fish cannery and enjoy a tasting of fresh seafood while you learn about the fishing industry on the lower Columbia River. Continue your ride along the waterfront in search of the colorful wildlife that flocks to its shores. After the six-mile round trip route, return to the pier.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 8. Dress in warm, layered clothing and wear flat, comfortable shoes suitable for bike riding. Raingear may be needed in case of inclement weather. Part of the path is on wooden piers with uneven surfaces and spaces between planks. Not recommended for inexperienced bike riders.
