WHAT YOU VISIT
- Pedernalis Shipwreck
Limited to just four people, this beginner's scuba diving class is the perfect way to get your feet wet. Under the guidance of a professional instructor, you'll learn the basics of scuba diving during a one hour pool session and a one tank boat dive. All scuba equipment will be provided and during the course of your instruction, you'll learn the basics of how to deal with water pressure and how to breathe through a regulator.
After you're comfortable, a dive boat will take you to the Pedernalis shipwreck, an oil tanker torpedoed by a German submarine during World War II. Once underwater, the instructor will accompany the class at all times as you swim in shallow water of 25 feet. Explore the wreck's large pieces spread out between coral formations on the sea floor. Glide up close to cabins still filled with furnishings, including wash basins; and exposed interior piping and pump systems.
Marine life is abundant around the Pedernalis wreck. Have your underwater camera ready to capture magnificent coral reefs, teeming with tropical fish, stingrays and sea turtles, many types of groupers and colorful angel fish.
