WHAT YOU VISIT
Your full-day adventure does not include meals or entrance fees so bring plenty of Jordanian dinars to cover your expenses. After your driver picks you up you're free to plan the day your way.

You may wish to begin or end your day with a drive to the hauntingly beautiful Wadi Rum desert. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wadi Rum's sun-scorched wilderness stretches out over 182 acres and sits on the edge of massive mountains whose 1,000-foot ridges have been worn smooth by the desert winds. Not only did T. E. Lawrence set up camp at Wadi Rum but it was also the stunning backdrop to the classic 1962 film, "Lawrence Of Arabia" starring Peter O'Toole.

If interested in man-made wonders then be sure to visit the Aqaba Museum. Once the home of the great-great-grandfather of Jordan's king, the museum holds a treasure trove of Bronze Age artifacts from the 4th century B.C. to the early 12th century. Among the coins, ceramics and tablets is a display of gold dinars that date back over 1,650 years.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
En route to Wadi Rum you'll marvel at the dramatic way the majestic mountains rise out of the rose-red desert sand. Some of the ridges are a thousand feet high, and are topped with domes worn smooth by the desert winds.

SHOPPING
Aqaba is a duty free shopping zone and among the colorful souks and markets that showcase spices and handmade jewelry, you'll find a shopping mall with stores that sell everything from bath salts to toys.

LUNCH
Lunch and dinner during the day are on your own. Many of the restaurants in Aqaba feature Middle Eastern cuisine. A few favorites meals include "mansaf," rice served with chunks of stewed lamb and jameed, a yogurt sauce. A popular appetizer is "baba ghanouj," a delicous dip made out of mashed eggplant and tahini. For a main course, try "sambousek," a meat and pine nut pie or "fasoolyeh," which is a bean stew. Another favorite is "musakhan," which is baked chicken served on bread with onions, olive oil and pine nuts. For dessert, try "halva," a soft sesame paste, which is similar to nougat.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Glimmering sands of rose-red, sandstone in varying shades of sepia and pink, and monolithic rock walls the color of umber, the colors of Aqaba's environs are startling reminders of ancient beauty.

At the end of this perfect day, you'll drive back to the ship, soaking up all the picturesque views Aqaba has to offer.
