WHAT YOU WILL VISIT
Nelson's Dockyard National Park
Nelson's Dockyard is the only Georgian naval dock in the world and a unique Antiguan landmark. Although this is the Caribbean's premier example of a British naval yard, it was actually constructed by Antiguans. Nestled in the cone of a dormant volcano, the dockyard has been well protected for over 500 years from the hurricanes that frequent the area. Built in 1725, the dockyard served as the base for the English naval squadron patrolling the West Indies.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Blockhouse Ruins
View the remains of the powder magazine, gun platforms, cisterns, and officer's barracks atop this sheer cliff. From this breezy vantage point, you will have a photographic view of the surrounding coastline and the Atlantic Ocean.

Shirley Heights Lookout
Take in picture-perfect vistas of Nelson's Dockyard National Park and the English Harbor from this lookout once used as a signal station to warn those in the dockyard of approaching ships. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Montserrat and Guadeloupe.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE ALONG THE WAY
Antigua (an-tee-gah) was named by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the new world. In this primarily rural environment, don't be surprised if you see a donkey roaming the streets as you pass quaint villages, the ruins of the area's famed windmills, old churches, and the brightly colored chattel houses, which epitomize the area's West Indian culture. Of course the beaches are spectacular and Antiguans like to boast that they have 365 glorious beaches, one for every day of the year.
