At Portage Lake, board the m/v Ptarmigan for an unforgettable sightseeing cruise. This sightseeing vessel has been specially designed to navigate this uniquely created lake bringing you within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. Then grab lunch (not included) at the Portage Day Lodge and shop for unique Alaskan artwork and gifts in the gallery. We'll return to Anchorage via the scenic Seward Highway, Alaska's "National Scenic Byway."
Special Notes:
The content of this tour is identical to WH1-610. Only guests using a wheelchair can book this tour, as it ensures accessible transportation. Due to the specialized nature of some lift-equipped vehicles, priority is given to guests using a wheelchair and one companion only; additional companions may be required to travel on the transportation provided for tour WH1-610. Bookings not marked with an accessibility requirement will be removed from the tour's inventory.This tour can accommodate manual and electric wheelchairs. The lift on the vehicle can accommodate a maximum weight of 600 lbs., maximum length of 47 inches and maximum width of 30 inches. Passengers with disabilities must contact the onboard Tour Office at least 48 hours prior to the excursion to ensure arrangements can be made to meet their particular needs. This tour is available to passengers disembarking in Whittier with an overnight stay in Anchorage after their cruise or departing on flights after 3:30pm on the day of disembarkation. It is not available to passengers on back-to-back voyages who will stay onboard the ship and cruise back to Vancouver. This tour drops at the Anchorage airport by 2:00pm and continues on to the downtown hospitality center (arrive by 2:30pm) for guests with later flights or an overnight stay in Anchorage. This tour operates with a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service
On visits before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center is closed and will be replaced with a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
Whittier tours are only available to cruisetour guests who spend the first night of their package in Anchorage. Other cruisetour guests cannot take an excursion as they would miss the transfer to their next destination.
Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
