WHAT YOU VISIT
Northern Lights Cathedral
Consecrated in 2013, Europe's northernmost cathedral symbolizes an extraordinary natural phenomenon of the Arctic--the Aurora Borealis. Aptly named the Northern Lights Cathedral, the significance of the Aurora is reflected in the cathedral's architecture. The facade, clad in titanium, reflects the Northern Lights during the long Arctic winter.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
The striking architecture of the Northern Lights Cathedral is evident is the spiraling shape that winds up to form a pointed belfry 154 feet above the ground. The interior is similarly eye-catching, with a modern 13-foot-high bronze Christ by Danish artist Peter Brandes.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Nestled in the inner reaches of the Altafjord, Alta sits 236 miles north of the Arctic Circle. From the comfort of the coach, you'll see sights such as Alta's oldest district, Bossekop, where Dutch whalers settled in the 17th century, and some of the first buildings erected after World War II.
