As the world's second largest island, Papua New Guinea, also known as PNG, is a blue-green oasis of lush rainforests and sparkling water. The scenery is so enchanting that the capital of Milne Bay province is named Alotau, which means 'Bay of Views.'

Get an up close look at the beauty, history and culture of this lively town on a two-hour sightseeing tour. A friendly local guide will be on hand to share their knowledge of Alotau and answer any questions. To make your adventure more enjoyable, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along a camera.

Board your transport for a scenic drive that takes you along the coast. Sit back and relax as your bus slowly climbs the hills en route to Top Town Lookout, the first stop on your itinerary. As you get out and stretch your legs you'll marvel at the panoramic views of the bay. After you've taken your photographs you'll set off to a local Secondary School.

Upon your arrival, be welcomed by the children. Enjoy a guided tour of the school and interaction with students. Experience some of the cultural demonstrations and watch a variety of arts and crafts demonstrations -including having your face painted!.

At the conclusion of your tour, you'll wave goodbye to the students and re-board your van. Then, it's just a short drive to the centre of town and the site of your next stop.

Many locals raise their own food and at the local market you'll find a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Stroll around the colorful stalls and marvel at the bananas, taro and sweet potatoes, staples of the Melanesian diet, as well as watermelon, peanuts, cucumbers and mangoes.

Re-board your van for a ride back to port as you contemplate your rich and enlightening adventure.
