Just 7km (approximately 15 minutes' drive) from the main town of Alotau, passing numerous traditional village hamlets, step into another world as you are welcomed into the home of a typical Milne Bay family and experience the true meaning of Melanesian hospitality and the Milne Bay way of life. Enjoy a host of traditional family activities including; Cultural performances, Traditional weaving techniques used for baskets and accessories, Grass skirt (Magololo) making demonstrations, Take a walk through a traditional garden and learn the importance of being a good gardener with a local guide, observe traditional clay pot cooking over fire, the way their ancestors have been cooking for centuries. Be enriched by the many mystical and fascinating stories of the land.

Last but not least, take a short drive to the small seaside village of Gehi Gehi learn the traditional and modern ways of catching fish, smoking fish without a smokehouse or take for a refreshing swim in the warm tropical waters. Enjoy demonstrations of the many uses of the coconut palm in every day village life before returning to the pier.

Special Notes:

Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat, a cover-up and bottled water. The local roads are unsealed and bumpy. The village terrain is uneven and has some steps.
