Description
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Your adventure begins as you board your motorcoach at the pier and travel not only throughout the city, but back in time, getting to know this city that was completely rebuilt during the Art Nouveau period.
In 1904, the city's center was destroyed by a great fire. Germany's Kaiser Wilhelm led the relief effort, and the city was rebuilt in the German Art Nouveau style known as Jugendstil. You'll get to see some of these historic buildings as your route takes you down Kongensgata. Be sure to notice the elaborate turrets and spires. You'll also pass the impressive Ålesund Church, built in 1909, with a façade finished in natural stone.
Next, you'll travel to the city mountain of Mt. Aksla. Quaint and scenic, it offers views of the archipelago, the beautiful town center, and the amazing Sunnmøre Alps that are truly breathtaking. You'll drive to the vista point (though visitors to the town can also opt to climb the 418 steps) to capture the memories for your photo album before heading back down for your scenic ride back to your ship.
For tours that offer more in-depth exploration with actual visits to one or more sites, see the other options in this port.
