What you will visit:
Wildlife Cruise by Sailing Ketch
Akaroa is situated on Banks Peninsula, made up of the remnants of two extinct basaltic volcanoes, Lyttelton and Akaroa. Sail on the Fox II, a classic gaff-rigged ketch with authentic rigging, two wooden masts, six genuine handmade tanbark sails, real copper fastenings and authentic wooden blocks. Sail the tranquil waters of this picturesque harbor for three hours in search of the most intriguing marine mammals that call these waters home. In addition to experiencing majestic scenery, keep a lookout for Hector's dolphins, white-flippered penguins, the New Zealand fur seal (kekeno in the Maori language), and an abundance of birdlife, such as white-fronted terns, cormorants, petrels, gannets and albatross.

What you will see along the way:
While the wildlife is the star of the show, Akaroa's natural scenery is spectacular. You'll cruise past volcanic cliffs, some 500 feet tall, lava flows, dramatic sea caves and the multi-hued volcanic amphitheater of Scenery Nook. Unforgettable sights are around every turn, and your skipper knows the best spots for marine mammals and seabirds as well as picturesque vistas.
