Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach for a scenic drive through Aarhus.

Your tour takes you past Aarhus Town Hall on the south side of the busy Rådhus Plads, the hub of the traffic of Aarhus. You'll continue past Aarhus University, the Botanical Gardens, the Music Hall, and the ARoS Art Museum with its rainbow panorama gangway on top, one of the largest museums in Europe.

At the rim of the forest, your bus will pass by the Queen's summer residence Marselisborg Palace, where you will enjoy a peek into the Royal family's private land.

You'll continue to Aarhus Cathedral (Aarhus Domkirke). It is the longest and tallest church in Denmark, and one of the oldest redbrick buildings in Jutland. Its construction began in the year 1190. Today, its restored bell tower stands over 310 feet high while the church is over 300 feet long. The interior boasts over 200 frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries, as well as a 16th-century altar carved by the Lübeck master, Bernt Notke. After this visit, you will enjoy some free time in the City Centre.

Before returning to the pier, you'll make a stop at Den Gamle By open-air Museum, where you'll witness the recreation of a traditional Danish village, featuring 75+ original historic structures collected from around Denmark that have been numbered, brick by brick to be able to reconstruct them as they were originally built, including artisan workshops, residences, a theater, post office, and school. Most of the buildings range in age from the 15th to 18th centuries. Museum staff is dressed in period costumes and man some of the working positions in shops and perform typical trade or household functions before your eyes.
