Guest Experience on Diamond Princess

While these are unprecedented circumstances, the team on board Diamond Princess, supported by shoreside colleagues around the world, is actively working to care for its guests to help ensure their comfort and well-being. The following summary includes some examples of hotel operations and in-room services by the Princess Cruises team.

  • Diamond Princess is well provisioned and providing food & beverage room service to all guests, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, beverages and snacks.
  • Linen and towels are available upon request now.  Under current circumstances, The Ministry of Health required the ship to present a housekeeping plan to service staterooms, factoring health & safety protocols and that has been approved. Guest rooms will be serviced in a coordinated effort while guests are out of their room for a fresh-air break.
  • Laundry service for personal clothing is completed for three decks of staterooms. Three more decks will have the opportunity to send personal clothing for laundry service next. Each stateroom has also been provided with laundry detergent.
  • Guests and crew are being provided complimentary internet and telephone service to stay in contact with their family and loved ones.
  • Eight additional live TV channels and more than 80 new in-room movies in various languages have been added and made available to guests, in addition to concerts and in-cabin fitness, Radio Taiso, Tai Chi and Origami folding videos.
  • Printed newspapers are available on board in 36 different languages.
  • The cruise activities staff is delivering pre-printed trivia, games, daily puzzles, arts and crafts, and cards to guest staterooms.
  • All kids on board are scheduled to receive a daily kid’s activity kit with cards, coloring books and games, among other activities.
  • The ship has activated ABCmouse.com an online educational website focused on reading, math, science, art & colors for ages 2-8.
  • The Cruise Director Show (The Wake Show) is now available on board in English and Japanese.

Princess Cruises is working with the Japanese Ministry of Health to ensure all prescriptions and critical medicines for guests are being supplied and delivered to staterooms as quickly as possible.

Additionally, under the guidance of the Japanese Ministry of Health, outdoor time is provided for guests in interior staterooms, following guidelines to maintain well-being.
