What is the Ocean Medallion™?
Ocean Medallion is a first-of-its-kind wearable device that elevates every moment before, during and after your Ocean Medallion Vacation. From on-demand food and drinks, interactive gaming, custom entertainment and smart navigation, Medallion makes cruising simpler, and more personal and enjoyable than ever.
How does it work?
Medallion holds your unique digital identity and communicates with thousands of readers onboard and in port. With no on-off switch, menu or charging needs, it helps you seamlessly discover everything around you. In addition to using Medallion for payments, unlocking your stateroom door and speeding up embarkation, it lets our Crew see information they can use to serve you better.
How do I carry it?
You can wear your Medallion as a wristband, pendant, clip or simply keep it in your pocket or bag. The important thing is that you keep your Medallion on you so that you can make the most of your vacation experience, everywhere you go.
Does it cost extra?
Your Medallion is included in the price of your Ocean Medallion Cruise. We’ll ship it to you in advance at no extra charge, so that your vacation experience is simple and easy from the start. For extra personalization, accessories are also available for your Medallion.
What is Ocean Compass™?
You can think of Compass as a personal guide that you can access anywhere – online, on portals throughout the ship, your stateroom TV and most importantly…your own mobile devices. Compass uses your unique digital identity to provide everything you need at any moment, like suggestions for activities and directions to them, along with invitations and reservations for future experiences.
Is using Compass or Medallion required?
Using either Compass or Medallion is not mandatory to have an amazing vacation. But the more you engage with both, the more you’ll see the exciting opportunities available on your journey.
I just booked a Medallion Class cruise — what’s next?
For now, you can keep using Cruise Personalizer to prepare for your cruise. You can make dining reservations, sign up for shore excursions, find great pre-cruise deals on Internet & Photo packages and more. Prior to your Ocean Medallion Vacation, you will receive communications to complete your Ocean Ready™ process. Please follow the instructions in these communications and contact our Ocean Concierge at the number provided if you have any additional questions.
What is Ocean Ready™?
Ocean Ready prepares you for your cruise, enriches your arrival and helps foster an enduring relationship for the future. Through Ocean Ready, you can customize preferences and input information to your online profile, helping you speed through embarkation and get right to your vacation.
How do I get my Medallion? What happens if it doesn’t arrive before my cruise?
We’ll deliver your Medallion to the address saved in your profile before you set sail. If it doesn’t arrive, please call Princess Cruises. If you book late and don’t receive your Medallion in advance, you can pick it up at the terminal during check-in.
I’m going on several cruises in a row — will my Medallion work across my journey?
Yes, as long as all cruises in your journey are on Medallion Class ships. If they’re not, you will receive Medallions for only the Medallion Class voyages.
Can I use Ocean Compass on non-Medallion Class cruises?
Your profile will always be available on Compass regardless of which ship you’re on. However, Compass and Medallion only work to enhance your experience on Medallion Class ships.
Do I need to print my boarding pass for a Medallion Class ship?
Nope; if you’re on a Medallion Class ship, all you need is your Medallion. If you don’t have it with you, a Navigator or Crew member will be able to help you board.
Will I be able to opt out of or turn off this new technology?
If you do not want to take advantage of the full Ocean Medallion experience, you can switch your privacy setting to "Safety Only" and enjoy the cruise the same great way you do today.
Could other people find it and use it to get into your room or charge purchases to you?
The Ocean Medallion contains no personal information. Your Ocean Medallion is associated with your profile that contains your onboard security picture. If that picture does not match a guest when a purchase is being made or when someone other than the original guest is nearby, access will not be granted to a stateroom and purchases cannot be made.
All information provided before and during your cruise will be encrypted and is not stored on your Ocean Medallion. The most advanced software security models, tools, and methods are fundamental to Ocean Medallion. However, any guest is also welcome to opt out of all services at any time.

Do I need any travel documents?
It depends on your destination, so check with your travel agent or visit Princess.com. When Compass comes online at Ocean.com this summer, you’ll be able to find additional help there as well.
