Main port photo for Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand (Scenic Cruising)

Situated at the northern tip of the South Island, the awe-inspiring Marlborough Sounds are some of New Zealand's many natural wonders. These flooded mountain valleys, islands and bays offer unmatched beauty and have been largely left untouched by civilization, save for a few vacation homes here and there.

Often spotted in the sounds are a variety of dolphins, fur seals and seabirds such as Blue Penguins, rusty-crowned Australasian Gannets and long-necked Spotted Shags. However, one of the main attractions lies more than 120 feet below the water's surface: the MS Mikhail Lermontov shipwreck. This Soviet ocean liner sank after running aground on rocks in 1986, and is one of the largest shipwrecks accessible to recreational divers today.

Sit out on deck or watch from your balcony as we glide past the dimpled mountain peaks and through this incredible labyrinthine region, where lush green hillsides meet secluded beaches and the turquoise waters that kiss their pristine sands.
