Tour Overview

What you will visit:
Soufriere/Scott's Head Marine Reserve/Champagne Reef
Champagne Reef is aptly named, as underwater volcanic vents emit continuous streams of tiny bubbles from the seabed. Exploration of this shallow reef area reveals an endless variety of tropical marine life. Look for graceful spotted drums, seahorses and frogfish as well as flying gurnards over the shallow sandy areas. Squid can often be seen on shore not far from the bubbles. The nutrient-rich water also nurtures star, brain and finger corals as well as yellow tube, vase and giant barrel sponges, along with orange crinoids. Snorkeling equipment, a snorkel vest and professional instruction are provided.

Morne Trois Pitons National Park
Together with your guide, you'll trek among ginger plants and vanilla orchids to the Emerald Pool formed by a waterfall cascading over a fern-covered cliff. You're welcome to stand behind the 40-foot waterfall and cool off with a dip or simply admire the surroundings of this breathtaking tropical rainforest.

Trafalgar Falls
At one of Dominica's most fascinating and picturesque areas in the south central section of the island, a walk through dense foliage takes you to Trafalgar Falls, where you'll marvel at the twin falls cascading into a deep pool, surrounded by forest, lush ferns, and tropical flowers.

Titou Gorge
Titou Gorge translates to "Little Throat, " a descriptive representation of the deep natural cave created when volcanic lava cooled and split open. A cascading waterfall fills it with cool, sparkling waters and light shines through a leafy canopy above. There is also s natural hot spring that flows into the crystalline pool. So cinematic is the Titou Gorge, that it was the filming site of the blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." The entrance to the cave is quite rocky, water shoes are strongly recommended.

What you will see along the way:
A 90-minute motorcoach ride deep into the interior of Dominica is an opportunity to gaze upon some of its finest natural scenery. Dominica's reputation as the "natural isle" is well deserved, and on your Rainforest Scenic Drive, you'll want to keep a lookout for the beautiful blooming plant life and the colorful birds that make their home in the tropical vegetation.

Lunch:
A complimentary buffet lunch is provided at the Springfield Guest House Hillsborough Reception Center. Additionally, complimentary fresh local fruit and a beverage are offered before you board your transportation back to the pier.
