Tour Overview

Just beyond Puerto Montt's city streets lies the lush and verdant Lake District. Stretching out from the Pacific to the Andes the area encompasses dozens of lakes, volcanoes, hot springs, and rivers. This all day tour will take you deep into this magnificent natural wonder and an onboard guide will point out areas of interest as you make your way.

Your adventure begins as you board your transportation at the pier and meander through Puerto Montt and out into the picturesque countryside. With the magnificent snow-capped Osorno volcano as a backdrop, you'll head into the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, Chile's oldest national park. Covering over 619,900 acres it's home to Todos los Santos, also known as Esmeralda Lake for its brilliant emerald color. When you arrive, you'll step off your transportation and board a catamaran for a leisurely cruise out onto the lake. Sit back, relax and marvel at the glorious view. Surrounded by the snow-covered peaks of the Andes the lake's vivid hues poses the question - is it really green? It's believed that weather conditions and the cloud-covered sky create this visually stunning optical illusion.

After 45 minutes on the lake, you'll make your way back to the dock, reboard your transportation and head to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch of Chilean and German favorites. On the menu are cheese empanadas, vegetable soup, grilled fish and kuchen for dessert, a German cake that's made from a sweet dough and topped with fruit and custard or a latticed crust. Your choice of water, wine, coffee or tea will accompany your meal along with a Pisco sour, which is a traditional South American cocktail.

Your next destination is Petrohue Falls. Perched at the foot of Osorno, the Falls also feature that beautiful turquoise color. As you walk along the roped off paths (be careful, the rocks may be slippery), be sure to have your cameras ready, you may get a glimpse of a deer, gray fox, long-muzzled weasel or little mountain monkey.

Then, your next stop is the charming town of Puerto Varas, which rests on the shores of shimmering Lake Llanquihue. Founded by German immigrants over 150 years ago, the town's well known for its German traditions, food and architecture. Once you step off the transportation, you'll have a chance to visit a handicraft market where you can shop for local artwork, craftwork and souvenirs.

At the end of the day, you'll return to Puerto Montt to re-board your ship.
