Tour Overview

Board your air-conditioned transport, and begin a fantastic half-day adventure. Experience the sights and sounds of Brazil's Cidade Maravilhosa - the "Marvelous City" as you travel through downtown Rio with its mix of dazzling high-rises and colonial architecture.

Leave your transportation, and travel through the Tijuca Forest via train to the summit of Corcovado (meaning "hunchback" in Portuguese) Mountain. The Tijuca Forest is a mountainous hand-planted rainforest, and the world's largest urban forest, covering some 8,000 acres. The forest is also home to hundreds of species of plants and wildlife. Take in unforgettable views of the lush rainforest as you head towards the base of Corcovado Mountain.

Corcovado Mountain, Rio's highest peak, is also known as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the home of the iconic the Christ the Redeemer Statue. Board a train and ride to the top of the mountain, then continue up escalators to the main viewing platform. Headed by French sculptor Paul Landownsky, a team of artisans labored on the 125-foot tall concrete and soapstone figure. Completed in 1931, the statue is, along with Sugarloaf Mountain, one of Rio's internationally recognized symbols. Pause and photograph this artistic wonder as you take in the stunning surroundings and dramatic blue skies.

Head back down the mountain and drive past Rio's famed Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. The beach at Ipanema became widely known by the song "The Girl from Ipanema" written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, and Copacabana is famed for its stunning art deco promenade and dazzling views of the city. Enjoy views of both white sand beaches before continuing back to your ship.
