Tour Overview

This glorious day trip starts with a scenic drive to Brussels.

Your entertaining, narrated city tour will pass many of the country's finest landmarks, including King Boudewijn Stadium, the Atomium world unity monument, the Chinese Pavilion, the Japanese Tower, and the Royal Palace of Laeken, which is the official residence of the King of Belgians.

Your first stop of the day is the wonderful Musical Instruments Museum, which is located five minutes from the Grand Place square in the center of the city.

The MIM collection was established in 1877, although the new building (which is Art Nouveau and neo-classical in design) was opened in 2000. You will be able to hear most of the instruments play on headphones provided by the museum--for example, a Finnish Kantele (plucked string instrument) will play traditional Finnish tunes.

After wandering around the four fascinating floors, you will have time to visit the museum's gift shop before heading to a delicious four-course beer tasting & lunch at an exquisite local restaurant.

Your day will then continue with an informative guided walking tour that takes you to the heart of the Old City. At the center of this walk sits the central square, the magnificent Grand Place, which was once a medieval market. Here you will be able to take photographs of the ornate Baroque faades adorning the guild houses before continuing past the Town Hall and St. Hubert Gallery, with its colorful arcade of shops.

Wander along popular Butchers' Street, which is home to many popular restaurants and cafs, before viewing one of Brussels' most famous sights, the "Manneken-Pis," the bronze statue of a boy whose irreverent spirit epitomizes Brussels.

After your walking tour concludes, you will have limited time to browse the shops in the historic Old Town. Here you can purchase fine Belgian chocolates, exquisite tapestries, Flemish lace and souvenirs before boarding the motorcoach for the relaxing journey back to port.
