Tour Overview

Indulge in a sumptuous treat for your skin during this half-day tour to the Blue Lagoon, one of the most popular hotspots in Iceland. This luxurious outing starts with a picturesque drive along the southwest coast to reach the lively port town of Hafnarfjordur, Iceland's third most populated city and home to an annual Viking festival featuring replicas of Viking clothes, handcrafted mementos, sword fighting and more. Take in the historic look and feel of this town, which is also known to be the nation's rock 'n' roll capital.

After an enjoyable ride, arrive at Svartsengi Resource Park, home to the Blue Lagoon, one of the most famous relaxation destinations in Iceland. Marvel at the dreamlike steam rising over the geothermally warmed lagoon, a dazzling body of water that's drawn from more than a mile beneath the surface by Svartsengi Power Plant and completely replenished every 40 hours. After showering and putting on your swimsuit in the changing area, head out to the inviting pool of mineral-rich water, which is known to rejuvenate skin and soothe sufferers of certain skin conditions. Delight in the water's milky, aquamarine blueness, a unique color that stems from a mix of white silica mud and blue-green algae. Wade in further to find yourself bridging two continents; the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet below the heavenly water's surface. While relaxing, soak up the mesmerizing surroundings, including the jagged volcanic rock formations rising out of the mist and look for familiar snapshots of this celebrated destination, which has been featured in movies, "The Amazing Race 6" and on the 2010 season of "The Bachelorette." After enjoying a revitalizing soak, meander through the spa's lovely gift shop where a vast array of mineral-rich Blue Lagoon skin products, warm woolens and enchanting souvenirs draw the eye.

On the return trip, experience the expansive fields of ancient basalt lava that unfurl along the Reykjanes Peninsula. Capture photos of this dramatic terrain, a virtual lunarscape on earth, while learning about its origins from the on-board guide.
