Tour Overview

Your excursion begins at the pier where you'll board your air-conditioned transportation en route to Manhattan on a narrated tour of the Big Apple.

Heading uptown you will visit Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Although most architectural critics have judged it to be conventional and flashy, it has become an important Cultural Center. It employs over seven thousand people and attracts over five million patrons to its performances each year.

The layout of Lincoln Center's three main buildings the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Theatre, and Avery Fisher Hall is modeled on Michelangelo's Piazza del Compidoglio in Rome. Before being bulldozed, the neighborhood served as the backdrop for the movie "West Side Story".

Driving past Central Park, along Fifth Avenue, you'll visit Rockefeller Center and head to the Top Of The Rock Deck, 70 stories up. The view itself is astonishing, unobstructed for 360 degrees and stretching for miles in each direction. It is, quite simply, the most spectacular view in New York City. You'll also see the famous home of NBC's Today Show and Rockefeller Plaza, the annual location for the grand Christmas tree and ice-skating rink.

You'll have approximately 90 minutes to shop and enjoy lunch on your own.

Next continue through Times Square before passing through the Garment District on your way to Heard Square. This neighborhood remains predominately a shopping district. See the landmark; Macy's, the world's largest department store. Continue past famed Madison Square Garden, the venue for sporting events, entertainment and numerous headline concerts.

Drive through Greenwich Village and SOHO, the fashionable area nicknamed for its South of Houston Street location. You'll also catch a glimpse of bustling Chinatown, as well as the frenetic financial district and its economic engine, Wall Street.

Passing through lower Manhattan for a view of the 9/11 Memorial, contemplate the magnitude of destruction from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Witness the recovery and rebuilding of the site by the dedicated men and women.

Drive pass the South Street Seaport, Lower Manhattan's historical waterfront and witness the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, one of nature's most powerful storms, before returning to your cruise ship.
