Steve Smith, Bosun

My name is Stephen, though I prefer Steve. I live on the south coast of England at a place called Hayling Island. After leaving secondary school at the age of 15 in 1971, I attended the National Sea Training School in Gravesend for three months. I then flew to New York in January 1972 to join my first ship, which was Queen Elizabeth II.

For the past 39 years I have worked on a lot of different types of ships, from ocean liners to dredgers, and have had a great many adventures.

My last 14 years have been spent with Princess Cruises, which I joined in August 1997 on board Dawn Princess. I would like to say a big thank you to the whole of the Deck department for their hard work and support. I would also like to the C.R.U.I.S.E. Committee for their support in voting for me.
