Discover how coffee makes it from bean to brew with an excursion into the heart of coffee-growing country. Sit comfortably in your air-conditioned motor coach and delight in the lowland pastures, sugar cane fields, cattle farms, and impressive volcanoes en route to the coffee plantation. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by the staff and led on a walking tour through the coffee fields and processing plant while the smell of coffee floats through the air. Drink up the history of this magical and profitable elixir as you learn that coffee trees were originally brought to Guatemala by Jesuit missionaries in the mid-1700s as ornamental plants. But by 1880, 90% of Guatemala's exports were coffee. After a prepared presentation detailing how processing coffee affects the sweetness, body, and acidity of brewed coffee, you'll be invited to enjoy a cup of Guatemalan coffee.
