Experience the city's scenic beauty from above and below when you ride a cable car from Funchal to Monte for a tour of Our Lady of Monte Church. Erected in 1818, the church features a twin-towered facade and a large churchyard with splendid views over Funchal. Following the tour, you'll hop inside the unique 'carros de cesto,' a wicker basket set on runners pushed by guides, for a ride down the slope back down to Funchal. Then, enjoy a taste of Madeira with a tour of the Blandy Wine Lodge. Sitting in the heart of the city, the family-owned winery dates back 200 years and boasts some of the island's finest Madeira wines. During your guided tour, you'll learn about the different types of Madeira wines, and how to sip and savor this elixir synonymous with the island. Enjoy a visit to the gift shop before returning to your ship.

The cable car does not come to a complete stop for boarding: not recommended for guests with physical limitations. At peak times, queues and waits may be experienced at the boarding station of the Cable Car.Our Lady of Monte Church is subject to closure without notice and visit is optional and time permitting. There may be a wait for the snow-less sleighs during peak times.
Visibility from all scenic outlooks is dependent upon the weather and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
This tour does not operate on Sunday afternoon.
There is a 5 minute walk from the motorcoach stop to the wine lodge. Passengers must be 18 or older to participate in the wine tasting.
Bring Euro or credit cards for additional purchases. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suited to the day's conditions. Bring a hat and adequate sun protection.
