Escape to the cool refuge of Alderbrook Lagoon on a comfortable sit-upon kayak and view Astoria from a different perspective. Ideal for first timers and experienced kayakers, this scenic-filled adventure begins with a transfer to meet your experienced guide at Pier 39, don your life jacket and climb onto your kayak. Once inside your vessel, you'll push off into the tranquil waters of Alderbrook Lagoon, once home to several cannery operations in the late 1900's and mid 1920's. As you glide along, be on the lookout for wildlife, including deer, native birds, wildflowers and pastoral fields. Back at Pier 39, you'll embark on a tour of the Hanthorn Cannery Museum, the oldest fish processing plant remaining on the lower Columbia River. Step inside and view displays of canning machinery and processing equipment. If time permits, purchase a refreshing beverage at the Rogue Pier 39 Public House.
