Hurricane Sandy Updates

Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  Because of this unprecedented storm, we have made the following itinerary updates.  As this is a fluid situation, please check back here for ongoing changes.

Caribbean Princess
October 27 departure (Voyage B237)
4-day Sampler cruise
Updated as of November 2, 2012 at 10am PDT

Caribbean Princess arrived safely at New York’s Manhattan Pier 88 for passenger disembarkation.

While recent events were outside of our control, we recognize they were unprecedented and impacted our ability to deliver the cruise experience passengers expected.   In consideration of this, we are pleased to extend a goodwill offer to all passengers who sailed onboard this cruise. We are offering 50% of the cruise fare paid on this voyage in the form of a Future Cruise Credit.   The credit may be applied to any future Princess cruise booked by the end of December 2013. This offer is dependent upon space availability and cannot be transferred, refunded, or used as a deposit.  However, it may be combined with any other discount or special fare that may be applicable to the voyage you select, including past passenger offers.

We fully understand the impact of Hurricane Sandy on our passengers' cruise holiday and thank them for sailing with us.  The Officers and Crew of Caribbean Princess have sincerely enjoyed serving everyone and hope to see these passengers again onboard Caribbean Princess.

Compensation for passengers onboard
We fully recognize this is a very unique situation and not the cruise experience anyone expected.  While these weather-related delays and uncertainties are outside of our control, we do regret the impact they’ve had on your upcoming cruise holiday.  In addition to the 2-day per diem we have offered as an onboard credit, we are pleased to extend a goodwill offer.  If you join the ship we are also offering you a Future Cruise Credit of 50% of your cruise fare paid on this voyage in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. Please have your travel agent mention this offer to the Cruise Consultant at the time your new reservation is booked.

Compensation for passengers who cancelled their booking on or after Friday, Oct 26
Our Princess Vacation Protection offers refunds or credits for those passengers who are unable to cruise as planned.  We find that well over half of our passengers have some kind of travel protection associated with their booking.  However, we are cognizant that this is a very unique situation and for those passengers who did not purchase Princess Vacation Protection, we will extend a Future Cruise Credit of 25% of your cruise fare paid on this voyage in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. Please have your travel agent mention this offer to the Cruise Consultant at the time your new reservation is booked.

Emerald Princess
October 26 departure (Voyage E229)
12-day Canada/NE cruise
Updated as of November 1, 2012 at 10 am PDT

Passengers joined Emerald Princess on Oct. 26 in Quebec to begin their 12-day cruise ending in Ft. Lauderdale on November 7.

Due to the presence of Hurricane Sandy and the impact it will have on the New England area, the port calls to Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport and New York have been cancelled. Port calls to Port Saguenay, Corner Brook and Saint John, New Brunswick have been added.

While some cruise ships are calling in New York to disembark and embark passengers, because Emerald Princess was only scheduled for a port call, we have decided not to call due to the storm’s impact to the port and city.  A call to  Saint John, New Brunswick has been added to replace the New York call.

In order to accommodate a small group of passengers who were expecting to disembark in New York, the ship will make a short service call in Boston on Saturday to allow them to disembark.  Other passengers will not be able to go ashore during this short call to Boston. Unfortunately the ship could not offer a full day call in Boston as it would impact the call to Charleston and the remainder of the itinerary.

The revised itinerary is as follows:

Day/Date                     Port                          Arrive           Depart
Saturday, Oct. 27         Quebec                                         6:00pm
Sunday Oct. 28             Port Saguenay      7:00am        4:00pm
Monday Oct. 29           at Sea
Tuesday Oct. 30           Corner Brook       8:00am        5:00pm
Wednesday Oct. 31      Sydney                  7:00am        4:00pm
Thursday Nov. 1           Halifax                   7:00am        4:00pm
Friday Nov. 2               Saint John 8:00am 4:00pm
Saturday Nov. 3           Boston service call
Sunday Nov. 4             at Sea
Monday Nov. 5           Charleston               9:00am         6:00pm
Tuesday Nov. 6           at Sea
Wednesday Nov. 7      Ft. Lauderdale     7:00am
