History and baseball in Boston, Massachusetts
Canada and New England Cruise Destinations
When you book a Canada and New England cruise, one of the highlights of your journey will undoubtedly be stopping in Boston, Massachusetts. Whether you're a history buff looking to learn more about the American Revolution or simply want to explore one of America's most popular cities, there's no reason to stay on the ship when your cruise pulls into port here.
For fans of history, the Freedom Trail is an easy way to view many of the city's important landmarks. This walking tour is quite long, so bring a good pair of shoes. The experience is made all the better with a knowledgeable tour guide who can explain the significance of each stop. You'll see Faneuil Hall, the Bunker Hill monument, the site of the Boston Massacre, Old North Church and much, much more. This tour crisscrosses the entire city, so it's also a good way to get a feel for modern Boston.
Optionally, continue on to the historic sites of Lexington and Concord. These are famous revolutionary battlegrounds where you can even see where the famous "Shot Heard Round the World" supposedly occurred.
Yet there's so much more to Boston than simply history. Go on a culinary tour of the North End, which might be easily described as Boston's version of "Little Italy." You won't have to go far to find some delicious cannolis or tasty gelato in this part of town.
Sports fans shouldn't pass up the chance to tour one of the most famous institutions in America, Fenway Park. Tours are run on days that the Red Sox aren't playing a home game, but even if the Sox are in town it's worth visiting the famous Yawkey Way to simply soak up the atmosphere of a town obsessed with its baseball team.
