Whale watching at Icy Strait Point, Alaska
Princess Cruises, Alaska, Icy Strait Point
The Icy Strait Point portion of an Alaskan cruise is one of the top chances for travelers to experience some truly rare and unique sights.
The Point Adolphus area is one of the best spots in the world for marine life, as the nutrient-rich waters attract a wide variety of species. Travelers will have the chance to see harbor seals and sea lions frolicking near the shore, but perhaps the most exciting part of Point Adolphus is the opportunity to see a humpback whale. Booking a whale watching cruise around the area is the best way to see one of these magnificent creatures, as you can relax in the warm main cabin of a catamaran while you learn about the different wildlife you encounter along the way.
Whales aren't the only wildlife that calls the Icy Strait Point home, however. Explorers who don't have their sea legs can instead opt to head out in search of the Alaskan brown bear, which comes to the area to feed on salmon.
